Nai Publications House, an eminent literary house declared award to the six personalities in Nepal and India for their contribution in their respective field. Mr. Sunil Babu Pant, former founder chairperson of Blue Diamond Society and member of constituent Assembly and parliament of Nepal has been awarded for his social contribution to uplift the Nepalese marginalized sexual and gender minorities (LGBTI). Among six awardees, five are from literary and music sector.
The meeting chaired by the president of the publication house, Ms Indira Prasai had decided to select the awardees. The amount of award is 10,000.00 ($US 133).
This is historic in Nepal to acknowledge the person’s efforts and contribution who is from the LGBT community where the community has not been empowered full-fledged manner with legal and social acceptance.
Manisha Koirala, the famous cineartist in India and Nepal, felicitated Mr Pant with the award.
